Our Story

May 8, 2009 marks the anniversary of the day they met and their lives would be changed forever.

Accident Photo.jpgA seemingly perfect day for a motorcycle ride turned unexpectedly for the worse when Nick was struck by a car on his way home.  On her way to the University moments after the accident, Kristina was exiting I-80 on 1300 east in Salt Lake City when she noticed a bike lying in the road.  She pulled to the side of the road and found the rider of the motorcycle on the ground, surprisingly still conscious.  Among the first of the bystanders, she tended to this stranger’s side while the others called for help and formed a barricade in the road.

Despite their shock and confusion, Kristina stayed by Nick’s side the whole time.  They shared a beautiful time of intimacy talking, holding hands, and looking at each other.  Once Nick was ready to be taken to the ambulance, they didn’t feel like strangers any more.  They did not need to say goodbye because it was just the beginning.

Kristina followed the ambulance to the hospital where she waited until friends and family arrived.  After a few hours passed, Kristina left but knew she had to see Nick again.  She visited him in the hospital days after his surgeries and to his family home when he was discharged from the hospital.

Recovering from a broken elbow and leg, Nick invited Kristina to physical therapy with him.  It was clear after a few therapy sessions together that they shared deep feelings for each other but the timing was not right.

A couple years later in late 2011 they were able to reconnect. Their love had grown and they could be finally be together.  Nick proposed to Kristina on December 25, 2015 and they celebrated with family on that special Christmas day.

Nick and Kristina believed in their love from the beginning on the side of the road and are so happy to have made it official on August 20, 2016.
